Job Description

A well-established professional services firm based in Manchester is looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join its technology function, bringing strong analytical expertise to a role that spans both internal business insight and external client-facing reporting.

The opportunity

This is a varied and high-visibility role. You’ll be producing analysis that directly informs business decisions and client strategy, working across product performance, operational insight and claims-related analytics. You’ll present findings to senior stakeholders internally and to client decision-makers externally, so the ability to tell a clear story with data is just as important as the technical skills behind it.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll design and build Power BI dashboards and reports that make complex information accessible and actionable – both for internal audiences and external clients. You’ll develop and maintain SQL queries and data models to support reliable, repeatable outputs, and carry out deep-dive analysis into claims trends, cost drivers, settlement patterns and operational performance. You’ll work closely with product, engineering and client teams to translate findings into clear recommendations, and contribute to improving data quality, definitions and governance across the function.

What we’re looking for

You’ll need advanced SQL skills and strong Power BI capability including DAX, data modelling and report design. A background in insurance claims analysis or financial services analytics is essential – you’ll need to understand how claims processes and outcomes work, not just how to query the data. Experience presenting complex findings to non-technical audiences in a clear and compelling way is equally important.

Experience with Tableau and familiarity with data governance practices would both be advantages. You’ll be self-sufficient, comfortable managing multiple workstreams, and confident specifying requirements for more junior colleagues.
