Lead Cloud Engineer

Job Description

A growing professional services business is hiring a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to take technical ownership of its cloud, infrastructure and security platforms.

Senior and hands on, with no line management. This is a design and delivery role, setting the technical standard across the estate.

The role

• Own the cloud and infrastructure roadmap across Azure and Microsoft 365
• Deploy and manage Microsoft security tooling, working alongside an external security provider
• Lead on enterprise identity, covering hybrid identity, MFA, Conditional Access and privileged access
• Data protection and compliance tooling, including loss prevention and classification
• End user computing, virtual desktop, networking, backup and recovery
• Governance around emerging AI tooling
• Deliver infrastructure and cloud projects end to end

Requirements

• Demonstrable ownership of a Microsoft estate rather than one part of it
• Substantial Azure architecture and operational experience, with strong M365 depth
• Hands on deployment experience across the Microsoft security stack
• Strong Entra ID and Active Directory identity and access management
• A track record of delivering infrastructure and cloud projects to completion
• Comfortable prioritising design and delivery work over day to day operational tasks
• Able to work with ambiguity in a fast changing environment

Desirable

• Microsoft Azure, Security or M365 certifications
• An architecture, information security or risk qualification
• Experience within a regulated or client confidential professional services environment
• Working knowledge of Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001 and UK data protection
