Job Description

Senior Cyber Security Engineer needed for a newly created position within a growing security function at this enterprise sized not for profit organisation.

This is a hands-on, varied role sitting at the heart of a mature security operation, you’ll be engineering, responding, remediating and mentoring.

What you’ll actually be doing

Working alongside Cyber Security Analysts and an external SOC, you’ll be the technical backbone of the team’s day-to-day security operations. That means triaging and responding to incidents, working with SIEM outputs, tuning EDR and email security tooling, and tracking vulnerabilities through to remediation.

Beyond the operational work, you’ll be embedded into IT projects from the start – reviewing designs, identifying risk and making sure security is built in rather than bolted on. You’ll also take ownership of hardening the Microsoft/Azure environment, manage endpoint protection and access controls, and support third-party onboarding assurance.

There’s a mentoring element too – this is a senior position and you’ll be expected to bring junior colleagues along with you.

What they’re looking for

• 5+ years in cybersecurity, with strong hands-on technical depth
• Solid experience across endpoint, network and cloud security – Azure/Microsoft stack in particular
• Comfortable working with outsourced SOC functions and SIEM platforms
• Familiar with ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH or GIAC are a plus
