Business Systems Developer (Entry Level)
Job Description
We’re working with an enterprise sized organisation that supports critical systems used across housing management, customer services and internal operations.
They’re looking to appoint a Business Systems Developer to join their Business Systems team, supporting and maintaining a range of core applications while developing technical skills in databases, scripting and system support.
This is an entry-level role, ideal for someone early in their IT career who wants to build strong foundations in enterprise systems and progress into more technical or project-focused work over time.
The role
You’ll join a team responsible for supporting business-critical systems used across housing services, finance, CRM, document management and mobile working.
Under supervision, you’ll learn how to triage incidents, investigate system issues, work with data, and support users across the organisation. As your skills develop, you’ll take on more complex technical work and contribute to system improvements.
What you’ll be doing
- Triaging and assessing support tickets, including prioritisation and escalation
- Investigating system issues and fulfilling requests under guidance
- Carrying out routine monitoring tasks and escalating issues where needed
- Supporting a wide range of core business systems
- Learning to query and interrogate data using SQL (Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL)
- Developing basic scripting and technical problem-solving skills
- Researching and testing solutions with support from senior colleagues
- Working closely with the wider team to support users effectively
What they’re looking for
- Strong general IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Some exposure to SQL, databases or scripting (academic, personal or commercial)
- Logical problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and confidence working with users
- Willingness to learn and develop technical skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
This role would suit a graduate, career-changer, or someone with early commercial IT experience looking to build depth in enterprise systems.
