Job Description

IT Manager – Infrastructure & Security

A well-established, standalone organisation of approximately 200 staff is seeking an experienced IT Manager to take ownership of internal IT operations and security.

This is a hands-on leadership role in a business that operates independently, with outsourced IT support in place. The successful candidate will act as the internal technical lead – triaging issues, overseeing service delivery, and ensuring systems, services and data remain secure, stable and well managed.

The role

You will act as the internal owner of IT across the business – responsible for day-to-day operational oversight, service performance, and the organisation’s security posture.

You will:

  • Triage and coordinate internal IT issues before escalation to the MSP
  • Hold external providers accountable for performance and standards
  • Oversee infrastructure, M365, endpoints, networks and core systems
  • Lead incident management and recovery planning
  • Own security policies, risk management and compliance activities
  • Coordinate audits and respond to client security questionnaires
  • Promote security awareness and pragmatic risk management across the business

This is not a pure governance role. It requires someone who understands how systems actually work and is comfortable bridging operational IT and security.

Background & experience

  • Strong hands-on IT infrastructure background
  • Experience managing or overseeing outsourced IT services
  • Solid working knowledge of cyber security principles and risk
  • Comfortable acting as the senior IT point of contact for the business
  • Experience within professional services or regulated environments preferred
  • Commercially aware and pragmatic

Certifications are advantageous but not essential.
