Job Description

We’re working with an enterprise sized organisation that’s investing in its IT infrastructure as part of a wider technology strategy, supporting colleagues and services across multiple sites.

They’re looking to appoint a Network Engineer to support the design, maintenance and day-to-day operation of their network infrastructure, alongside providing on-site technical support where required.

This is a varied role combining network engineering with field-based IT support, suited to someone who enjoys hands-on technical work in a mixed environment.

The role

As Network Engineer, you’ll support the stability, performance and security of the organisation’s network, working closely with senior engineers and wider IT teams.

You’ll also provide on-site support across offices and locations, assisting with networked devices, infrastructure upgrades and new site setups.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the design, implementation and maintenance of network infrastructure
  • Monitoring network performance and troubleshooting issues
  • Configuring and supporting routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs and network security tools
  • Assisting with network security controls and incident resolution
  • Providing on-site technical support for networking and connected devices
  • Installing and maintaining servers, desktops, laptops, printers and mobile devices
  • Supporting smart and internet-connected systems such as CCTV, door entry and building systems
  • Assisting with new site setups, cabling and equipment installation
  • Documenting issues, changes and resolutions clearly

What they’re looking for

  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Experience working with network hardware such as switches, routers and firewalls
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux environments
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with IT service processes such as ITIL
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle for business use

Desirable but not essential:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA
  • Experience with virtualisation, CCTV or smart building systems
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS

Why consider it

  • Broad, hands-on technical role with real-world impact
  • Stable, purpose-driven organisation
  • Strong benefits package typical of the housing sector
  • Opportunity to develop networking skills across a varied estate
  • Hybrid role with a mix of office, site and technical work

If you’re a Network Engineer or IT infrastructure professional looking for a practical, varied role in a stable environment, this is well worth a look.
